Canoeing at Paisley

The Saugeen River, which winds its way right through the centre of the village of Paisley, is ideal for recreational canoe and kayak endeavors.

A whole day can be spent on the river and you never have to leave town. The Village provides no less than four canoe launches, all easily accessible from Bruce County Road 3, which runs through the village.

A "Park & Paddle" is located at Milne Park in the south end of the village. Riverside Park provides a dock, parking, camping facilities, tennis courts, children's playground, horseshoe pits and volleyball nets.

Another dock is centrally located behind the hose tower, just a short stroll from shops and restaurants.

At the north end of the village you will find the Bruce County canoe launch with parking and picnic tables.

Canoeing the Saugeen River
A nice evening paddle is to put your canoe in at the hose tower, paddle upstream past Riverside Park and Milne Park to the next set of rapids. Float quietly downstream and watch for wildlife, beaver, muskrat, water fowl, maybe even a deer. Children love it and sleep like angels afterwards.

Saugeen Bluffs is located about 10 minutes by car north or Paisley or 3 hours on the river. Operated by the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority, Saugeen Bluffs offers camping among the maples with several canoe sites along the river's edge. It makes a great day trip desination from Paisley.

The Village of Paisley sports 4 outfitters who offer canoe and kayak rentals, information and assistance on river travel and a variety of other services. For your next canoeing adventure, come to Paisley and the Saugeen River.
